First Aid And Emergency

The Aim of the Program: The aim of this program is to train qualified healthcare personnel who can provide life-saving emergency medical intervention and care for patients or accident victims in emergency health problems. Graduates of the program receive the title of 'Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic).' Paramedics apply Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support at the scene of the incident and perform other emergency medical interventions within the framework of their authorized powers. They can also drive emergency vehicles, such as ambulances.

Importance for Our Country and the Sector: Our program plays a pioneering role in training specially equipped personnel who can carry the roles and responsibilities that may be required in the challenging conditions of the pre-hospital emergency system and field, reflecting this on protecting and improving human health.

In line with the expectations and needs of the healthcare sector, our education aims to provide students with not only professional knowledge and skills but also effective communication, teamwork, problem recognition, and problem-solving abilities.

The direct connection of paramedic profession's primary responsibilities with life-saving and the fact that many medical errors made in this field often have no room for correction make the work in this field of vital importance. Specialization in education by developing academic studies in line with the requirements of the profession is crucial. The paramedic profession is distinct from other professional groups, so the methods to be applied in education are also different. Currently, one of the most significant problems is that teaching staff involved in vocational education, especially those from different professional groups, do not have sufficient knowledge and skills required by the profession. Developing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors required by the society's needs today and obtaining appropriate knowledge in accordance with the ethical rules of this field and training expert individuals in the field of first aid and emergency program will be realized.

Employment Opportunities: Our graduates can find employment in the Provincial Ambulance Service (112) Directorate of the Ministry of Health, ambulances and command control centers, private hospitals and ambulance companies, municipal and university-affiliated healthcare institutions, university and public healthcare institution emergency departments.

Departments Transferable through the DGS: Graduates can continue their undergraduate education in departments such as Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Health Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Social Work, Human Resources Management, etc., through the DGS or the health-related undergraduate completion system as stipulated by the relevant regulations of the Higher Education Council (YÖK)."
